Broken Clockwork (2018)

for chamber orchestra [ca. 9 minutes]

Program Note

Broken Clockwork is a decoration of pulse. The piece begins in a rhythmically amorphous limbo followed by a series of variations in an upbeat, grid-like pulse. There are sections that bounce, sections that grumble, and sections that operate with mechanical precision. At the end, time falls apart and returns to an ambiguous limbo.
